چکیده

Abstract The prediction of ocean currents is essential for the path planning and control Autonomous Underwater Vehicles. Regional physics-based forecast models provide valid predictions but are too computationally expensive real-time necessary AUV navigation. While vehicle sensors can measure spatial evolution currents, temporal remains an open problem as existing data-driven with capabilities have only been shown to work at locations where data used develop model. We propose in this paper two predictive tools using deep learning techniques, a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) Recurrent Neural Network Transformer, perform in-situ any location. A set from National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration split distinct sets train test models. show that LSTM Transformer averaged Normalized Root Mean Squared Error respectively 0.10 0.11 over all sites standard deviation 0.024 0.031. Comparisons Harmonic Method various territorial sea United States both state-of-the-art accuracy without having trained these sites.

Synoptic Estimates of Waves and Currents via Real-Time Assimilation of In-Situ Observations

The proposed program will develop the capability of monitoring nearshore waves and currents over large scales, and will allow the timely use of information from in-situ sensors. The specific objectives to be addressed are to: 1. Develop a near-real-time capability for assimilating singleor multiple-point in-situ observations into a phase-resolving wave model; 2. Test and validate the methodolog...

Ocean Currents Modeling along the Iranian Coastline of the Oman Sea and the Northern Indian Ocean

The Makran Coast (Iranian Coastline of the Oman Sea on the Northern Indian Ocean) plays an important role in country’s future navigation and trade due to its accessibility. In 2014, the Iranian Makran coastline was selected by the PMO to be studied as the Phase 6 in the series of Monitoring and Modelling Studies of Iranian Coasts with all disciplines being in investigated including currents. On the transport of mass by time-varying ocean currents*

-In order to calculate the mean mass flux past a given recording station it is necessary to know more than the mean velocity in a fixed, vertical section. One must add an additional term--the ' Stokes velocity ' which depends also oil the time and distance scales of the fluctuating currents. In typical circumstances, where the fluctuations are larger than the mean current, the Stokes velocity m...

Realistic, real-time rendering of ocean waves

In computer games and other real-time graphics applications, the ocean surface is typically modeled as a texture or bump-mapped plane with simple lighting effects. This paper describes a system for realistically rendering the water surface in real time. Our system can render calm ocean waves with sophisticated lighting effects at 100 fps on a 680 MHz Pentium III with a GeForce 3 graphics card. ...
